Job summary

Pivotal Solutions is seeking an Assistant Controller to manage day-to-day accounting for a Property & Casualty insurance operation in the Tampa area. The role supports the Controller in financial reporting, statutory compliance, and internal controls across finance, underwriting, and claims.

Ideal candidates have 5–7 years of insurance accounting, CPA preferred, and strong GAAP, SAP, and NetSuite experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is required.
• CPA certification strongly preferred.
• 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a Property & Casualty insurance company.
• Knowledge of GAAP, SAP, and statutory reporting.

Responsibilities

• Assist in managing monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes with timely reporting.
• Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and schedules for GAAP and statutory reporting.
• Support quarterly and annual statements, NAIC filings, and regulatory submissions.
• Prepare financial statements, management reports, and variance analyses.
• Ensure accuracy of general ledger activity and sub-ledgers.
• Collaborate with underwriting, claims, and actuarial teams on reserving and expense allocation.
• Participate in budgeting, forecasting, and process improvements.
• Serve as a backup for Controller during absence.
