Job summary

Southern Company seeks a Protection & Control Field Services Engineer/Technician for the Metro East Transmission Maintenance Center. The role covers installation, testing, troubleshooting, and operation of protective relaying and communication equipment across transmission facilities.

The position requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering or related fields, or equivalent experience, with willingness to work in a hybrid environment and participate in callouts including nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• 4-year degree in engineering or engineering technology, or PE license, or equivalent experience.
• Ability to plan and execute projects safely with attention to quality and schedule.
• Willingness to participate in callouts and travel as needed, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Commission, test, maintain, and troubleshoot protective relaying and control equipment.
• Ensure tasks are completed without service interruptions and manage clearances.
• Coordinate activities with internal and external stakeholders and respond to outages.
