Job summary

Planet Group is seeking a Safety Specialist to support owner safety on Virginia solar and BESS construction sites. The role requires reviewing safety programs, performing audits, and ensuring OSHA compliance across multiple projects around Virginia, with 60–70% field presence and six-month to year-long site rotations.

The position emphasizes field reporting via iPhone/iOS apps and SiteDocs, collaboration with EPC, contractors, and the owner's PM team, and a strong focus on proactive safety

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Safety, Occupational Health, Construction Management, or related field (or CHST).
• CHST certification supported.
• OSHA 500 certification is required or preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Owner Safety Representative on solar and BESS construction projects.
• Monitor safety performance for OSHA and project requirements.
• Conduct field observations, audits, and inspections of construction activities.
• Identify hazards and coordinate corrective actions with contractors.
• Document observations, findings, and actions clearly.
• Cite applicable OSHA standards in field situations.
• Support enforcement of safety policies and procedures.
• Participate in safety meetings, incident reviews, and planning discussions.
• Assist in incident investigations and communicate lessons learned.
• Use digital tools and apps to document safety activities.
• Collaborate to promote proactive safety culture across teams.
• Complete field reports using iPhone and SiteDocs.
• Complete weekly reports and audits using SiteDocs.
