Job summary

The Planet Group seeks a Safety Specialist / OSR to supervise safety on active construction sites in Virginia. The role is field-based, with approximately 60-70% time in the field and travel between project sites.

You will identify hazards, conduct inspections, cite OSHA standards, and maintain digital field documentation using tablets or iPhones. This is a 1-year full-time position with potential extension.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of construction safety experience.
• BS degree or CHST/OSHA 500 equivalent for qualification.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA construction standards.
• Ability to identify and cite applicable OSHA standards in field situations.
• Experience conducting construction safety inspections, audits, and field observations.
• Strong hazard identification and corrective-action experience.
• Strong computer and digital reporting skills.
• Comfortable using iPhone/iOS or tablet applications for field documentation.

Location: Richmond, VA - Projects throughout Virginia

Employment Type: Full-Time

Duration: 1 year with possibility of extension

Field-Based: Approximately 60-70% in active construction environments

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of construction safety experience.
• AND one of the following:
• Bachelor's degree in Safety, Occupational Health, Construction Management, or related field; OR
• CHST certification; OR
• Current OSHA 500 certification.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA construction standards.
