Job summary

Mid-Hudson Energy Transition, Inc. is seeking 1–3 Contractor Consultants to serve as owner’s engineer and technical advisor for complex residential and small-scale construction projects.

The role is part-time, hourly, and averages 10–20 hours per month with variability based on project load and complexity. The ideal candidate will provide on-site oversight, review quotes, ensure code compliance, and guide contractors to align with project scope and best practices.

Qualifications

• Strong construction knowledge focused on residential retrofit or weatherization.
• Ability to evaluate building systems across HVAC, electrical, envelope and related trades.
• Experience reviewing quotes, scopes and contract documents.
• Proven communication skills to translate technical issues clearly.
• Field experience with on-site oversight and problem solving.

Responsibilities

• Pre-Construction / Planning Support: assess properties, develop detailed scopes of work, evaluate bids and identify cost risks.
• Construction Oversight / Field Support: conduct site visits, monitor quality and safety, ensure plan adherence.
• Project Closeout / Review: review invoices, assist with punch lists and confirm scope completion.
