Job summary

Safety Management Group, LLC (SMG) is seeking a local Owner's Representative in Richmond, VA to coordinate environmental compliance programs and regulatory permits for construction projects. The Environmental Advisor will oversee site plans, emissions controls, and SPCC requirements while engaging with contractors and agencies.

Applicants should have 7 years of environmental experience and a relevant degree, with strong communication skills and the ability to plan and solve problems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in Environmental Studies, Geology, or similar is required.
• 7 years of environmental experience.
• Previous work on construction projects performing environmental services.
• Thorough knowledge of environmental studies and regulatory compliance.
• Ability to plan, organize, and problem-solve.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills and initiative.

Responsibilities

• Provide environmental compliance oversight for construction activities.
• Support compliance with NPDES, RCRA, Stormwater, Air Permits, and SPCC requirements.
• Develop and manage environmental plans, permits, documentation, and records.
• Conduct site inspections and compliance assessments to identify environmental risks.
• Partner with contractors to ensure adherence to environmental regulations and permit requirements.
• Lead environmental incident investigations and corrective actions.
• Deliver environmental training, guidance, and coaching to project teams and contractors.
• Support regulatory audits, agency interactions, and project-specific environmental programs.

SMG is seeking a local Owner's Rep in Richmond, VA to provide environmental services.

The Environmental Advisor is responsible for coordinating the implementation of environmental compliance programs, permit requirements, corporate environmental policies, standards, procedures, and strategic environmental goals within their assigned region, plant, and project scope.

Additional Information

• SMG full-time, benefitted Associates are eligible for Premium Pay after working 40 billable hours for the week. Premium pay is at a 1.35 multiplier.
• Annual pay/merit review/increase.
