Job summary

HMC Architects in Ontario, California, is seeking a Project Architect / Technical Manager to lead technical development, coordination, and documentation of medium- to large-scale projects. The role oversees design development through construction documents and manages project teams and consultants to ensure quality and compliance.

This hybrid position offers flexible hours, with work from the Ontario office and some remote work.

Qualifications

Professional degree in Architecture (or related field such as Interior Design or Civil/Construction).
Active California Architectural License (required for Project Architect).
Minimum 7 years of experience across all architectural phases.
Strong construction documents, coordination, and QA/QC experience.
Leadership abilities and experience guiding teams.

Responsibilities

Lead technical development and coordination from design through construction docs.
Resolve technical, code, and agency issues across phases.
Supervise project teams (up to four staff) and provide feedback.
Coordinate with consultants, clients, contractors, and internal teams.
Review documents for quality and code compliance.
Support planning including schedules, budgets, staffing, and fees.
Mentor and coach team members.
Participate in proposals, interviews, and marketing efforts.
Ensure alignment with contracts, client expectations, and firm standards.
