Job summary

GFL Environmental Inc. is seeking a skilled Welder/Fabricator to join the shop team. You will fabricate, repair, and maintain waste compactors, dumpsters, and fleet vehicles, ensuring safety and quality.

A strong work ethic and hands-on metalworking skills are essential, with overtime opportunities and comprehensive benefits. The role offers consistent Monday–Friday shifts, with approximately 50 hours per week, and starting pay around $25 per hour, based on experience.

Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum 2 years of hands-on welding, fabrication or metal repair (heavy equipment or waste management gear a plus).
• Proficiency in MIG/Stick welding, torch cutting, plasma cutting, and metal prep/grinding techniques.
• Certifications: Basic welding certification preferred; strong practical experience considered.
• Driver's license: CDL or standard driver's license preferred.
• Tools: Possess basic personal hand tools and PPE (helmet/shield, wrenches).

Responsibilities

• Fabrication & Repair: weld, cut, lay out, fabricate, grind, and paint on compactors, dumpsters, roll-off containers, and fleet vehicles.
• Equipment Maintenance: inspect and repair equipment; prep surfaces and structural components.
• Safety & Quality: ensure repairs meet safety standards and regulations.
• Shop Support: keep workspace clean and organized; manage basic shop supplies and report tool needs.
• Documentation: maintain accurate daily service and work orders.
