Job summary

Bay State Community Services is seeking an Overnight Youth Advocate to provide awake overnight supervision for youth 12–18 in a residential setting. You will help maintain a safe, trauma-informed environment and respond to emergencies while following established routines and documentation practices.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1 year experience working with adolescents preferred.
• Residential experience preferred.
• Experience with systems (e.g. DMH, DCF) preferred.
• Able to learn CPI de-escalation techniques.
• Able to learn CPR and first aid

Responsibilities

• Provide awake overnight supervision and support to youth ages 12–18.
• Ensure the overall safety and security of youth within the residential program.
• Conduct routine wellness and safety checks throughout the overnight shift.
• Maintain a calm, structured, and supportive environment.
• Respond appropriately to behavioral concerns, emergencies, and crisis situations.
• Provide support and guidance to youth as needed throughout the night.
• Follow established program routines, policies, and safety procedures.
• Complete shift logs, incident reports, and other required documentation accurately and on time.
• Communicate relevant information to incoming staff to support continuity of care.
• Serve as a positive role model while treating youth with dignity, respect, and fairness.
• Driving is required.
• On rare occasions due to staffing needs, employees may be asked to work their scheduled shift at another residential program in Quincy, Weymouth, Hingham, or Plymouth.
