Job summary

Highfields Inc in Onondaga, MI seeks a Residential Overnight Worker to safeguard the health and welfare of male youth (ages 12-18) in residence, ensure campus safety, and supervise care and welfare.

This full-time night-shift role offers 40 hours per week with Sunday-Thursday or Tuesday-Saturday schedules, 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., plus medical/dental/vision insurance, a 401(k), 20 days PTO, 13 paid holidays and other benefits.

Qualifications

• Dependable, reliable individual.
• Able to be alert and awake during the night shift.

Responsibilities

• Arrive on duty on time at the start of shift.
• Remain alert, awake, and available throughout the shift.
• Conduct bed checks for students at least every 30 minutes.
• Convey special information to staff at shift change.
• Conduct periodic house security checks for contraband.
• Enter counseling sessions and documents into database nightly.
• Awaken students only at designated times using approved methods.
• Attend scheduled team meetings (quarterly).
• Complete all training requirements for the position.

Salary Range: $16.50 To $16.50 Hourly

The Residential Overnight Worker safeguards the health and welfare of male youth (ages 12-18) in residence, the overall safety of the campus and its property, and provides supervision for the care, welfare, safety and security of youth and fellow staff.

Male Workers Really Needed due to the unique environment of being a male only facility.

This is a full-time position working 40 hours weekly. Shifts are either Sunday-Thursday OR Tuesday-Saturday

The work hours are 11:00 p.m. - 7:00 a.m.

Minimum Qualifications / Experience:

• Minimum high school diploma.
• Dependable, reliable individual.
• Able to be alert and awake during the night shift.

Essential Functions:

• Arrive on duty each night on time, at the beginning of an assigned shift.
• Remain alert, awake, and available throughout the entire shift.
• Conduct and document bed checks of all students no less than every ½ hour throughout the night.
• Convey any special information concerning students directly to other staff at the change of shift.
• Conduct periodic security checks of the house for contraband.
• Assure that counseling sessions and any other documents are entered into database nightly.
• Awaken students only at the designated times through approved methods and remember that doing this sets the tone for the entire day.
• Attend scheduled team meetings (quarterly).
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Complete all training requirements for the position

Knowledge or Experience:

• General understanding of adolescent behavior.
• Understands and utilizes agency approved de-escalation and physical management policies and procedures.
• Must be open to new ideas, methods and situations.
• Shall be a person of good character who possesses the health, emotional stability, maturity and strength to carry out assigned duties.
