Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Kirkland, WA is seeking an Overnight Triage Veterinary Assistant or LVT for our 24/7 Emergency department. ER experience is strongly preferred and the role includes triage, diagnostics, ICU setup, discharge planning, and client communication.

We offer a competitive hourly pay range with 4-hour shift differentials and a Kahuna leveling system for advancement. Thursday-Saturday overnight schedule and comprehensive benefits are provided.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to patients according to hospital standards and core values.
• Report patient signalment, problem list and plan during nursing rounds.
• Understand classification of medications, monitor therapeutic response and side effects.

• Assist with anesthesia/monitoring for ASA I or II patients.
• Stay current on CPR guidelines and assist as directed.

Job description

BluePearl Pet Hospital is seeking a knowledgeable and skilled Overnight Triage Veterinary Assistant or LVT for our 24/7 Emergency department in Kirkland, WA!

ER experience is strongly preferred.

Pay: $22.19 - 51.32 / hr

This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience and advancement through Kahuna leveling system.

Schedule: Thursday-Saturday, Overnight

We also offer competitive shift differential pay for eligible hours worked for nights and weekends.

*Shift differentials are based on a 4-hour minimum.

• Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = $8.00 Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = $4.50 Shift Differential

Our Veterinary Assistants triage emergency cases as they come in and assist DVM with crafting and going overestimates as needed. In addition, they perform diagnostics (radiographs, labwork, etc), setting patients up in ICU or Inpatient ward, discharging patients, and handle client communication.

As a Veterinary Assistant, you will:

• Provide nursing care to patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
• Report patient signalment, problem list and plan during nursing rounds.
• Understand classification of commonly used medications, associated side effects and appropriately monitors therapeutic response.
• Administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Perform physical exam; accurately counts heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.
• Possess a working knowledge of anesthesia/monitoring equipment and assist with patients assigned ASA I or II classifications.
• Remain current on R.E.C.O.V.E.R CPR guidelines and demonstrates proficiency in designated role as assigned by attending clinician and/or supervisor.
