Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Tacoma, WA, is seeking two Overnight Licensed Veterinary Technicians to join our ER team. The roles focus on emergency patient care with anesthesia management, triage, radiography, and critical nursing support in a fast-paced hospital.

Qualifications

• Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) in good standing.
• Experience in emergency medicine or ER is preferred.
• Ability to work overnight shifts and adapt to a fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities

• As An Emergency Veterinary Technician, you will induce, monitor and recover anesthesia and use anesthesia equipment.
• Triaged emergency cases, obtained vitals and monitored patients throughout treatment.
• Perform digital radiography with proper technique and patient positioning.
• Understand normal vital ranges and alert the Veterinarian to changes.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs; monitor and respond to issues.
• Identify at-risk patients, initiate CPR when needed.
• Calculate medical math and administer medications via appropriate routes.
• Perform phlebotomy and place IV catheters in peripheral vessels.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Mentor and train co-workers; provide care and empathy to clients.

BluePearl Pet Hospital is hiring two Overnight Licensed Veterinary Technicians to join our ER department in Tacoma as we add new DVMs!

• $3,000 sign-on bonus available for eligible candidates!*

Schedule (either One Is Available)

• Thursday-Saturday from 5pm-6am
• Sunday-Monday from 6pm-4am

LVT I Pay:

$25.63 - $36.81/hr (with overnight shift differentials)

This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience and advancement through the Kahuna leveling system.

We also offer competitive shift differential pay for eligible hours worked for nights and weekends.

• Shift differentials are based on a 4-hour minimum.

• Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = $4.50 Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = $8.00 Shift Differential

As An Emergency Veterinary Technician, You Will

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.
• Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Are proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.
• Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.
