Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Tukwila, WA seeks a knowledgeable Veterinary Assistant to support triage in our emergency-focused hospital. Pay ranges from $23 to $30 per hour with shift differentials for qualified shifts.

The role includes intake/triage, vital sign assessment, client education, and close collaboration with the medical team to ensure swift, high-quality patient care. Monday–Friday and weekend options available in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• Experience in veterinary triage or emergency care.
• Ability to take and record vitals accurately.
• Strong communication with clients and team.

Responsibilities

• Intake and triage of incoming patients.
• Report patient signalment, problem list, and plan during nursing rounds.
• Take vitals (heart rate, pulse, CRT, mucous membranes, temp, respiratory rate/effort).
• Explain treatment plans to clients and educate them.
• Recheck vitals and document trends and updates.
• Communicate with intaking doctor to ensure prompt care.
• Stocking and cleaning as needed.
• Monitor waiting/exam room, assist with refreshments/marketing materials, update wait times.

BluePearl Pet Hospital is seeking a knowledgeable and skilled Veterinary Assistant to assist in Triage at our Tukwila, WA hospital!

Pay: $23 - $30 / hour

Shift Differentials Offered For Qualified Shifts (4 Hour Minimum)

• Mon - Fri: 6pm to 8am = $4.00 Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = $5.50 Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = $4.00 Shift Differential

As a Triage Veterinary Assistant, you will:

• Intake and Triage of Incoming Patients
• Report patient signalment, problem list, and plan during nursing rounds.
• Comfortable taking vitals, including accurately counting heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate, and effort.
• Client communication and education
• Perform consistent rechecks, chart vital sign trends and client updates.
• Constant communication with intaking doctor to ensure prompt and proper patient care
• Stocking and cleaning as needed
• Monitor the waiting/exam room clients; assist with refreshments/marketing materials; update clients on wait time/patient status
• Maintain open communication with the doctor and technical staff to minimize wait times and maximize patient flow regarding long wait times
• Manage Cornerstone/Instinct hospital census
