BluePearl Pet Hospital in Tukwila, WA is seeking a knowledgeable Veterinary Assistant to assist in triage. The role offers hourly pay of $23–$30 with shift differentials for qualified evenings and weekend shifts.

You will perform intake and triage, report signalment and plans, take vitals, educate clients, and support nursing rounds. The position emphasizes collaboration with doctors and staff to improve patient flow and care.

Qualifications

• Intake and triage of incoming patients in a fast-paced setting.
• Report patient signalment, problem list, and plan during nursing rounds.
• Accurately take vitals including heart rate, pulse, CRT, MM, temp, RR, and effort.
• Communicate with clients and provide education.
• Perform rechecks and chart vital sign trends with updates.
• Maintain open communication with the doctor to ensure prompt care.
• Stock and clean as needed.
• Assist with waiting room management and updates on wait times.

Responsibilities

Job description

BluePearl Pet Hospital is seeking a knowledgeable and skilled Veterinary Assistant to assist in Triage at our Tukwila, WA hospital!

Pay: $23 - $30 / hour

Shift differentials offered for qualified shifts (4 hour minimum):

• Mon - Fri: 6pm to 8am = $4.00 Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = $5.50 Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = $4.00 Shift Differential

As a Triage Veterinary Assistant , you will:

• Intake and Triage of Incoming Patients
• Report patient signalment, problem list, and plan during nursing rounds.
• Comfortable taking vitals, including accurately counting heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate, and effort.
• Client communication and education
• Perform consistent rechecks, chart vital sign trends and client updates.
• Constant communication with intaking doctor to ensure prompt and proper patient care
• Stocking and cleaning as needed
• Monitor the waiting/exam room clients; assist with refreshments/marketing materials; update clients on wait time/patient status
• Maintain open communication with the doctor and technical staff to minimize wait times and maximize patient flow regarding long wait times
• Manage Cornerstone/Instinct hospital census
