Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital is seeking an experienced Emergency Veterinary Technician for our busy Critical Care department. Pay ranges from $21.10 to $40.60 per hour, with shifts and a leveling system that recognizes experience.

VTS credentialing eligibility is noted for commensurate compensation, plus shift differentials for nights and weekends. As an Emergency Veterinary Technician, you will induce, monitor and recover anesthesia, triage cases, perform digital radiography, and maintain patient

Qualifications

• Experience in veterinary emergencies preferred.
• Ability to monitor anesthesia and vital signs accurately.
• Proficiency with basic radiography and medical math.

Responsibilities

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases and obtain vitals (HR, RR, temp, BP).
• Perform digital radiography with proper patient positioning.
• Interpret vitals ranges and alert Veterinarian to changes.
• Perform phlebotomy and place IV catheters as needed.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central lines as required.
• Mentor and train co-workers with patience and empathy.

Job description

BluePearl Pet Hospitalis hiring experienced Veterinary Technicians to work in our busy Emergency and Critical Care department.

Pay: $21.10 - $40.60 / hour

This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience and advancement through our leveling system.

** Candidates with VTS credentialing are eligible for compensation commensurate with experience**

We also offer competitive shift differential pay for eligible hours worked for nights and weekends.

*Shift differentials are based on a 4-hour minimum.

For example:

• Mon - Fri: 6pm to 8am = $3.0 Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = $4.50 Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = $3.00 Shift Differential

As an Emergency Veterinary Technician, you will:

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.
• H ave a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• A re proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.
• Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.
