BluePearl Pet Hospital is seeking experienced Veterinary Technicians to join our busy Emergency and Critical Care department. We offer a competitive hourly pay range and a leveling system that rewards experience and advancement.

Candidates with VTS credentialing are eligible for compensation commensurate with experience and we provide shift differentials for nights and weekends. This role emphasizes anesthesia, triage, radiography and critical care support.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Veterinary Technician in Emergency/Critical Care is required.
• VTS credentialing candidates are eligible for compensation commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases, obtain vitals and monitor patient status.
• Perform digital radiography with proper technique and positioning.
• Understand normal ranges of vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs; respond to changes.
• Recognize patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Calculate medical dosages and administer medications via appropriate routes.
• Perform phlebotomy and place intravenous catheters.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central lines; mentor co-workers.

Job description

BluePearl Pet Hospitalis hiring experienced Veterinary Technicians to work in our busy Emergency and Critical Care department.

Pay: $21.10 - $40.60 / hour

This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience and advancement through our leveling system.

** Candidates with VTS credentialing are eligible for compensation commensurate with experience**

We also offer competitive shift differential pay for eligible hours worked for nights and weekends.

*Shift differentials are based on a 4-hour minimum.

For example:

• Mon - Fri: 6pm to 8am = $3.0 Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = $4.50 Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = $3.00 Shift Differential

As an Emergency Veterinary Technician, you will:

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.
• H ave a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• A re proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.
• Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.
