Job summary

Skylos Sports Medicine, a BluePearl Veterinary Partner, is seeking a motivated Veterinary Assistant for an overnight shift (6pm–7am) on Mondays, with pay ranging $20.30–$25.00 per hour plus competitive night/weekend differentials.

You will provide nursing care, monitor patient status, administer medications, perform phlebotomy, and assist with anesthesia equipment while adhering to RECOVER CPR guidelines. Team collaboration and growth opportunities are emphasized.

Qualifications

• Provide nursing care to patients per hospital standards.
• Report patient signalment and plan during rounds.
• Understand medication classifications and monitor responses.
• Administer medications and monitor duration.
• Perform phlebotomy and venipuncture as needed.
• Monitor anesthesia equipment for ASA I/II patients.
• Remain current on RECOVER CPR guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
• Report patient signalment, problem list and plan during nursing rounds.
• Understand classification of commonly-used medications, associated side effects and appropriately monitors therapeutic response.
• Administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Perform phlebotomy.
• Perform physical exam; accurately counts heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.
• Possess a working knowledge of anesthesia/monitoring equipment and assist with patients assigned ASA I or II classifications.
• Remain current on R.E.C.O.V.E.R CPR guidelines and demonstrates proficiency in designated role as assigned by attending clinician and/or supervisor.
