Job summary

Alliance Animal Health seeks a Veterinary Assistant for overnight part-time shifts in Yorktown, VA. You will restrain animals, assist with triage, lab work, radiographs, imaging, and nursing care, while communicating treatment plans to clients.

ER/urgent care experience is preferred but not required. A compassionate, team-oriented approach and ability to multi-task are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of Veterinary Assistant experience.
• ER/Urgent Care experience preferred but not required.
• Ability to work overnight shifts and restrain pets properly.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Experience with sample collection, histories, lab tests, and radiographs is a bonus.

Responsibilities

• Restrain pets safely and assist with triage and nursing care.
• Collect and analyze lab samples, assist with imaging and diagnostics.
• Prepare and assist in surgeries, monitor anesthesia, and communicate plans to clients.
• Provide compassionate, calm support and multi-task as needed.

Job description

Pet restraint, triage incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability, administration of medications, effective communication of treatment plans with clients, surgical preparation and assistance, and anesthetic management.

Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases.

A Veterinary Assistant with a minimum of 1-year experience is required.

Previous experience in ER / Urgent Care is preferred, but not required.

Ability to work overnight shifts.

Compassionate and calm team-player.

Must be able to properly restrain pets.

Strong communication skills.

Proficient in sample collection, obtaining medical histories, processing laboratory tests and radiographs are a bonus!

Self-starter with the desire to continue to advance your knowledge and skillset.

We are looking for a part-time teammate for overnight shifts. Shifts available are Tuesday & Wednesday from 11:45pm - 8:30am

Pay Range: Starting at $16/hr+ depending on experience level
