Job summary

New England Center and Home for Veterans in Boston seeks an Overnight Supportive Residential Staff (Per Diem) to work in a 24/7 transitional housing program for Veterans with mental health and/or substance use needs. Shifts may include overnights and weekend work.

You will apply harm reduction, motivational interviewing, and trauma‑informed care while maintaining safety and documentation. Per diem availability is required, with collaboration across NECHV and VA teams.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• 1+ year of experience with residential services or related populations.
• Experience with substance use or mental health is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Work in a 20–25 bed, 24/7 Transitional Housing program for Veterans.
• Manage safety, respond to crises, and follow up with event reports.
• Apply Harm Reduction, Motivational Interviewing, trauma‑informed care.
• Assist participants with issues during shifts and facilitate activities.
• Document shift information and ensure data deadlines.
• Coordinate with NECHV programs, VA, and other departments.
• Maintain professional boundaries with colleagues and participants.
