Job Summary:

The Intensive Treatment Program (ITP) involves working with adolescents, typically aged 12–18 years, diagnosed on the Autism spectrum with mental health concerns and developmental or intellectual disabilities. The Behavior Technician - ITP in a residential setting is responsible for delivering evidence-based methods to support individuals with Autism, Intellectual Disabilities, and mental health involvement. Responsibilities include applying Applied Behavior Analysis approaches, conducting classroom and residential observations, collecting data, supporting staff with behavior protocols and intervention plans, and monitoring treatment integrity. Additionally, the role involves assisting with personal hygiene tasks and participating in special projects, including administrative and organizational tasks.

Essential Job Duties:

• Supervise clients directly during overnight and early morning hours.
• Perform 15-minute checks during evening hours and document as required.
• Support a therapeutic and safe environment.
• Develop knowledge of therapeutic interventions and interactions.
• Observe behaviors and communicate findings to supervisors and medical staff.
• Implement individualized behavioral plans.
• Provide feedback on individuals’ responses to behavior plans.
• Complete all required paperwork (e.g., ICNP, BIP, monthly summaries, daily logs).
• Perform additional duties as assigned on program-specific checklists.
• Possess basic knowledge of alternative communication techniques, including AAC devices and sign language.
• Implement individual schedules (sensory, milieu programming, toileting) as indicated in behavioral plans.
• Perform scheduled cleaning and environmental rounds.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Skills:

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Knowledge of basic sign language is a plus but not required.

Education:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.

Experience:

• No prior experience required.

Required License/Registration/Certification:

• Valid NYS Driver’s License.
• Preference for candidates with Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) credential.

Training:

• Continuing education per NYS Office of Profession guidelines.
• All required agency trainings, including Applied Behavior Analysis and SCIP-R.
• Additional training as required by service programs.

Physical Requirements:

The position is predominantly sedentary with occasional light physical exertion. Physical demands include lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, balancing, stooping, crouching, reaching, handling, grasping, feeling, standing, walking, climbing, talking, hearing, repetitive motions, and eye/hand/foot coordination. Sitting is occasionally required.
