Job summary

Fairmont Pittsburgh is seeking a Steward to support the Food & Beverage team in maintaining sanitation and efficient operations behind the scenes.

You will clean and maintain all flatware, china, glassware, and kitchen equipment, stock chinaware, and assist during banquet events as needed.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain sanitation of kitchen equipment and other areas.
• Clean china, glassware, and silver according to standards.
• Stock the restaurant with chinaware, plate covers, glasses and related items.
• Dispose of trash in food and beverage areas.
• Remove broken items and inventory accordingly.
• Ensure equipment is clean and functioning; report repairs.
• Maintain clean floors with sweeping and mopping.
• Follow department policies and service standards.
• Maintain a safe work environment per OSHA guidelines.
• Assist culinary team with plating and dinner service during banquets.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Description

Memorable dining experiences at FairmontPittsburgh begin behind the scenes with our Food & Beverage team’s commitment to safe and efficient operations. Support a skilled and engaged team as Steward, where your care and inspection of all flatware, tableware and kitchen equipment will ensure a superior standard.

What You Will Be Doing:

• Clean and maintain the sanitation of kitchen equipment and other areas assigned
• Clean all china, glassware, and silver pieces according to sanitation standards
• Stock the fl.2 Restaurant with adequate supply of chinaware, plate covers, glasses and anything necessary to present food
• Pick up and dispose of all trash in all food and beverage areas
• Ensure all breakages and chipped items are taken out of circulation and inventoried
• Ensure all equipment is clean and in working order
• Report any instances of concern to F&B leadership including any items or equipment in need of repair
• Ensure floors are being kept up with proper sweeping and mopping
• Follow department policies, procedures and service standards
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment in accordance with OSHA requirements
• Assist the culinary team with plating and execution of dinner service during Banquet events as needed
• Other duties as assigned

Physical Aspects of Position (include but are not limited to):

• Constant standing and walking throughout shift
• Frequent lifting and carrying up to 30 lbs
• Occasional kneeling, pushing, pulling
• Occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs and ramps
