Job summary

Northwestern Medicine in Grayslake, IL is hiring a Registered Sleep Technologist for a full-time overnight role at the Grayslake Outpatient Clinic. Work 3 x 12-hour shifts, 6pm to 6:30am, with one weekend shift per week, and a $10,000 sign-on bonus for eligible applicants.

The technologist performs overnight polysomnograms, CPAP/Bi-PAP titrations, and scoring, prepares patients and equipment, and collaborates with physicians and the NM team to ensure accurate, reliable sleep studies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Certification by Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists, RPSGT or Registered Respiratory Therapist.
• BLS CPR certified.
• Minimum 12 months sleep tech experience.
• Knowledge of the International 10-20 system of electrode placement.
• Familiarity with personal computers.

Responsibilities

• Complete paperwork before study, clarify orders, and complete billing information after procedures.
• Prepare equipment, calibrations, montage selection, and patient data entry.
• Provide CPAP training using appropriate materials.
• Prepare patients and place recording devices using the 10-20 system.
• Record study notes and observations in the system.
• Identify sleep abnormalities and adjust technique accordingly.
• Monitor and troubleshoot signals and equipment as needed.
• Maintain clean, organized monitoring equipment.
• Participate in in-services and training for staff.
• Train new Sleep Technicians and student preceptors.
• Score sleep records per department guidelines and maintain CEU requirements (10 CEs/year).
• Assist patients and provide reassurance as needed.
