Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Registered Sleep Technologist for the Grayslake Outpatient Clinic, 36 hours/week on three 12-hour nights. This role entails performing overnight polysomnograms and CPAP/Bi-PAP titrations, with a $10,000 sign-on bonus for eligible applicants.

The incumbent will work with NM staff and physicians within a patient-first culture. You must have 12+ months sleep tech experience and BRPT/RPSGT or RRT certification.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent required.
• Certification by BRPT (RPSGT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) required.
• Minimum 12 months of sleep tech experience.

Responsibilities

• Complete all required paperwork prior to study, clarifying unclear orders.
• Prepare equipment for monitoring, calibrations, montage, and patient data entry.
• Provide CPAP training using patient education materials.
• Prepare patients for study and place recording devices; adhere to EEG electrode protocols under the 10-20 system.
• Record study data and document observations in the system and on worksheets.
• Identify abnormalities (apneas, PLMs, sleep disturbances) and adjust techniques for clearer records.
• Monitor for medical issues and respond to critical events with appropriate actions.
• Maintain clean and organized monitoring equipment and participate in ongoing education.
• Train new Sleep Technicians and student preceptors; ensure CEU requirements are met.
