Job summary

180 Degrees is hiring a Shift Coordinator for Clifton Place in Minneapolis. The role anchors daily life, builds relationships with residents, and stabilizes routines in a corrections-supportive setting. You’ll be in the milieu, not behind a desk, modeling consistent skills and boundaries to aid transformation.

The position requires a valid Minnesota driver’s license, ability to pass a background check, and comfort with physically demanding tasks. Evening and overnight shifts are possible.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of working in a correctional setting.
  • 21 years of age.
  • Valid Minnesota driver’s license and automobile insurance required.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background study.
  • Experience working with justice-system reentry preferred.
  • Must be able to lift, reach, bend, stoop, kneel, and use flights of stairs.
  • Must be able to walk regularly and frequently, including ascending and descending flights of stairs, to conduct safety checks.
  • Lifting and physical requirements as required for kitchen and meal preparation duties; and as required to perform the essential functions of this position.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the milieu to provide safety, structure, and day-to-day supervision.
  • Support residents' lives outside the facility as they meet court-ordered conditions and rebuild independence.
  • Build genuine relationships that help residents feel seen, supported, and accountable.
  • De-escalate when emotions escalate.
  • Model consistency, boundaries, and belief in people’s capacity for change.
  • Handle administrative and program-related tasks that keep Clifton Place running smoothly, including intake, UAs, BAs, safety checks, and room inspections.
  • Support medication management.
  • Collaborate with a team of Shift Coordinators, case managers, and support staff to create a consistent, unified experience for every resident.
  • Support case management goals and keep solid documentation by providing direct impact to the residents.
  • Work flexible shifts — including evenings, overnights, on-call duties, and covering open shifts when needed.

Job description

Salary Range: $21.74 To $22.74 Hourly

Sign on Bonus: Sign on Bonus of $600 (Half paid out at 3 months and the other half at 12 months) for eligible employees.

Position Description

Shift Coordinator: Help men rebuild their lives after incarceration at Clifton Place.

180 Degrees believes every person deserves a fresh start. Clifton Place serves adult men transitioning from incarceration and navigating community supervision, many carrying the weight of long-term system involvement, trauma, substance use, housing instability, and disrupted access to healthcare and employment. For many of these men, the road to independence starts with one thing: someone who believes they can change.

Every day, residents at Clifton Place are doing the hard work of stabilizing their lives, meeting court-ordered conditions, and building the skills and confidence to live safely and independently. What they need is consistency, boundaries, and someone who shows up without judgment. That's you.

As a Shift Coordinator, you're the anchor of daily life at Clifton Place, the steady, engaged presence who builds real relationships with residents and helps turn structure into stability. You're not behind a desk. You're in the milieu, in the moment, modeling the skills and consistency that make transformation possible.

What You'll Actually Do
  • Manage the milieu to provide safety, structure, and day-to-day supervision

  • Support medication management, ensuring residents stay safe and on track with their health needs
  • Collaborate closely with a team of Shift Coordinators, case managers, and support staff to create a consistent, unified experience for every resident
  • Support case management goals and keep solid documentation by providing direct impact to the residents
  • Work flexible shifts — including evenings, overnights, on-call duties, and covering open shifts when needed

Essential Competencies
  • Associate degree in Corrections, Criminal Justice, Sociology, Psychology, Social Work, Education, or a related behavioral science field; one year of paraprofessional experience in corrections or a human service agency preferred.
  • Ability to build and maintain professional, respectful relationships with residents, coworkers, and external partners — including law enforcement, probation officers, judges, and treatment providers — while maintaining clear boundaries.
  • Strong de-escalation, crisis response, and conflict-resolution skills; ability to remain calm, thoughtful, and effective under stress and exercise sound discretion in decision-making.
  • Ability to assess residents' social, emotional, mental health, and practical needs while maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Clear verbal, non-verbal, and written communication skills, along with strong observational skills.
  • Strong time management, organizational skills, and ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with community resources related to housing, employment, mental health, chemical health, and justice-system reentry (e.g., chemical dependency programs, education programs, counseling, cognitive skills groups, and culturally specific services).
  • Familiarity with applicable Minnesota statutes and rules governing residential and reentry programs, including Minnesota Rules Chapter 2960 and PREA standards — or willingness and ability to learn and apply these in daily practice, documentation, and resident interactions.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to complete electronic documentation.
  • Basic food preparation skills.
