Overnight Shelter Staff Member Overview:

• Pay: $17.50 per hour
• Schedule: 11:00 pm to 7:30 am, 24 - 32 hours per week, with some flexibility for occasional meetings and events (at least one weekend day is required)

Overnight Shelter Staff Member Requirements:

This entry-level role oversees the nightly activities at the homeless shelter, so you'll need to be able to stay alert and focused throughout the night. Experience is welcome, but not required! You'll need:

• Clear verbal and written communication abilities with active listening skills
• Creative, flexible problem-solving skills
• Collaborative team spirit
• Ability to adapt to changing work priorities
• Ability to healthily and appropriately manage boundaries and stressors
• Ability to maintain confidentiality
• Ability to stay attentive throughout the night and swiftly respond to emergencies
• Ability to work some weekdays and at least one weekend day (Saturday and/or Sunday)
• Preferred - proficiency in Microsoft products and experience using online databases or a willingness to be trained

Responsibilities:

• Overseeing the nightly shelter activities and accurately documenting all incidents and observations
• Professionally assisting clients, volunteers, and visitors with any questions or concerns
• Ensuring compliance with all company policies, local regulations, and emergency procedures
• Quickly responding to situations and emergencies if needed
• Performing additional duties as needed by the program, such as laundry
