• Prior shelter, residential, outreach, or human services experience preferred.
• Commitment to harm reduction and trauma-informed care.
• Familiarity with individuals experiencing mental illness, trauma, or substance use.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and conflict-resolution skills.
• Ability to stay calm in high-stress situations.
• Basic computer skills for documentation and reporting.
• Dependable, punctual, and able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Support overnight shelter operations during shifts (intake, orientation, shift closure).
• Monitor common areas and activities to ensure safety and smooth flow.
• Distribute meals and supplies; organize access to hygiene and laundry services.
• Build respectful rapport with guests while maintaining professional boundaries.
• Respond to conflicts using de-escalation and trauma-informed communication.
• Maintain a clean, orderly shelter environment; perform cleaning or laundry as needed.
• Document guest interactions, shift activities, and incidents accurately.
• Provide information or referrals to community resources and internal support services.
• Collaborate with team to uphold shelter guidelines with compassion.
• Participate in staff huddles and share insights on client needs and status.
• Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.
