Job summary

The Houstonian Hotel, Club & Spa is seeking a Security Officer to assist with protecting property and assets on the Houston campus. You will respond to emergencies, enforce policies, and uphold the luxury standard of service with discretion and professionalism.

Responsibilities include patrolling buildings and lots, directing traffic as needed, and maintaining safety equipment such as guest room safes, first aid kits, and AEDs. CPR/AED is a plus; CPR/AED certification may be preferred.

Qualifications

• High school education, GED, or equivalent experience.
• 1–4 years of security experience.
• Proficient technology skills with POS systems.

Responsibilities

• Physically patrol campus buildings, garages, and surface lots.
• Direct traffic on campus as needed.
• Respond to Fire, medical and other emergencies on campus.
• Maintain guest room safes, golf carts and other Loss Prevention equipment.
• Maintain First Aid Equipment, including all kits and AEDs.

Must be able to work safely and effectively in outdoor temperatures. Summer temperatures outside can get above 95 degrees Fahrenheit for 5 months of year. For 2 months of year, low temperatures can get below 20 degrees Fahrenheit. Must be able to swim.Hearing / Speech: Must be able to effectively engage in one-on-one communication with guests, members, and customers and use a 2-way radio to communicate clearly and accurately with co-workers.Vision: Must be able to accurately read instructions, reports, and log sheets. Must be able to work with computers and PDAs in varying light conditions.Literacy: Must be able to produce, read and understand reports, including security, incident and police reports. Must be able to analyze and process written information from a variety of sources and effectively communicate content of reports.Chemicals/Agents: Must be able to work safely with chemicals according to SDS sheets and all applicable laws, codes and regulatory requirements.
