Job summary

Children's Home Society of South Dakota is seeking Relief Overnight Residential Youth Counselors to supervise and provide trauma-informed care for children in our residential program. You will be part of a team dedicated to fostering safety, stability, and positive development for youth in care.

As a PRN position, shifts run Sundays through Saturdays from 10pm to 9am, with 11-hour shifts and potential advance scheduling.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor's degree preferred but not required.
• 1-2 years of experience with children, especially with behavioral issues.
• Training available for newcomers.
• Ability to handle highly sensitive information with discretion.

Responsibilities

• Supervise children with engaging activities and ensure safety.
• Work with the treatment team and keep areas clean and orderly.
• Document handoffs and complete daily/weekly logs.
• Complete behavioral/restraint/incident reports as needed.
• Attend required training and weekly staff meetings.
