Job summary

Interstate Waste Services seeks a Supervisor of Rail Operations to run the overnight rail plan, lead a team, and coordinate gondola unloading, track usage and yard activity. You’ll ensure accurate railcar status and a smooth handoff to the next shift.

Responsibilities include directing unloading, weighing, and material flow, monitoring production and equipment, and addressing delays or incidents while maintaining safety and compliance across yard operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; relevant rail/logistics education preferred.
• 5+ years in rail/industrial operations with leadership experience.
• 3+ years leading a shift; strong safety and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Review plan and assign staff and equipment based on safety and capacity.
• Direct gondola unloading, material transfer, and yard housekeeping.
• Coordinate inbound/outbound rail activity with Scale Operations and landfill leadership.
• Maintain inventory and track status of railcars.
• Lead shift start with briefings and monitor production and equipment.
• Respond to delays and incidents; escalate when needed.
• Prepare end-of-shift reports detailing production and inventory.
