Job summary

Interstate Waste Services in New York is seeking an Operations Supervisor I to oversee collections across multiple lines of business. You will supervise drivers and helpers, align with the Hauling Manager, and drive safety, customer experience, and efficiency while fostering employee engagement.

Responsibilities include route planning, safety oversight, DOT compliance, and performance coaching to ensure on-time pickups and high service quality.

Qualifications

• 0-1+ years of experience in waste management operations.
• 0-1+ years of supervisory experience in waste management, transportation, and/or logistics services.
• Experience with route optimization and efficiency improvement.
• Knowledge of DOT requirements for commercial vehicles.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Knowledge of PowerBI preferred.
• Computer skills (Microsoft Outlook and basic Excel).
• Must possess strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
• Defensive Driving (Smith System 5 Keys).

Responsibilities

• Oversee route planning, safety awareness, and driver fitness for duty.
• Lead safety programs and monitor compliance with DOT and environmental rules.
• Coach drivers on safe driving and monitor route performance.
• Ensure high-quality customer experience and timely service.
• Analyze routes and coordinate with dispatch to improve efficiency.
• Engage employees to foster teamwork and professional growth.
