Job summary

Interstate Waste Services in Ohio is seeking an overnight locomotive operator for a Monday–Friday shift from 7:30pm to 6:30am. The role involves pre/post trip locomotive inspections, signaling, and yard switching to support production while adhering to FRA and OSHA safety standards.

Applicants should have at least 1 year of rail engineering experience, be able to lift 50 pounds, and work outdoors in varying weather. High school diploma or GED is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of rail engineering experience.
• Must be able to lift/push/pull at least 50 pounds.
• Outdoor work environment with variable weather, noise, chemicals and dust.

Responsibilities

• Conduct pre and post trip inspections on locomotives.
• Operate locomotive following FRA policies.
• Interpret and relay signals and indications affecting train movement.
• Safely switch cars in railyard to meet production needs.
• Inspect train and equipment in movement and at rest.
• Comply with train orders, signals and railroad safety rules (FRA).
