Job summary

Orlando Health is seeking a Financial Counselor to assist patients and families with payment options, explain billing steps, and make the collection process as comfortable as possible. The position supports patient access services across hospital departments and emphasizes compassionate, accurate service.

You will input patient and guarantor information, contact providers and payers for authorizations, verify benefits, collect co-pays, and document interactions in the registration system.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Two years' experience in a financial, business office, or customer service environment.
• Proficient in Windows Microsoft Office-based products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Typing proficiency.
• One year PC/Windows experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients and families with payments and explanations to make the process as comfortable as possible.
• Input patient and guarantor demographic and financial information accurately.
• Contact appropriate payers to verify benefits and obtain authorizations.
• Explain forms and obtain signatures from patients/guarantors.
• Explain insurance benefits and collect co-pays, deductibles and self-pay portions.
• Document authorization and benefit information in registration system.
• Meet departmental goals for collections and customer service.
