Job summary

The Nursing Station Technician at University of Minnesota Medical Center on the East Bank Campus provides direct patient care and administrative duties on the Neuroscience unit. The role blends Nursing Assistant and Health Unit Coordinator responsibilities, working under a nurse's supervision to deliver a high-quality patient experience.

Qualifications

• Six months of direct care experience in long term, home care or acute care setting.
• Current enrollment in an LPN, RN or NP program and one semester of clinical rotation.
• Current certification on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry upon hire (or 90 days post hire if transitioning).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required for Healthcare Providers.
• Excellent communication: clear speech, legible handwriting, strong computer skills; knowledge of medical terminology, abbreviations, and hospital procedures.
• Preferred: experience as Health Unit Coordinator or Nursing Assistant.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care including personal hygiene, vitals, activities of daily living, repositioning, transporting and feeding.
• Maintain unit desk functions: answering phones, processing admissions, discharges and transfers, transcribing orders, assembling patient charts and ordering tests.
• Set up and maintain patient rooms and initiating stocking of supplies.
• Order and stock supplies to ensure unit readiness.
