Job summary

New Hope is seeking an Overnight Nurse to provide skilled nursing care in our ICF homes in Carroll, IA. You will administer medications, monitor health, and respond to overnight needs to ensure safety and comfort for residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

These 10-hour night shifts Sunday to Wednesday with occasional weekend coverage require a state-approved practical nursing program and an unencumbered RN or LPN license, plus ability to lift and transfer, and a valid

Qualifications

• Requires state-approved practical nursing program.
• Unencumbered Iowa RN or LPN license required.
• Valid driver’s license and chauffeur’s license (D3).
• Excellent documentation skills and ability to maintain eMAR records.

Responsibilities

• Provide skilled nursing care to individuals with IDD in ICF homes.
• Monitor residents’ health and respond to changes or concerns during overnight hours.
• Administer medications and treatments accurately and safely.
• Respond to overnight health calls and provide clinical guidance to staff.
• Assist with daily living activities and mobility, including hygiene and nutrition.
• Maintain organized medications, supplies, and health records.
• Advocate for residents’ rights, dignity, and independence.
• Collaborate with staff and healthcare providers to ensure continuity of care.

What You’ll Do

As our Overnight Nurse, you will provide skilled nursing support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in our ICF homes.

Your nights may include:

• Providing compassionate, person-centered nursing care.
• Monitoring residents’ health and responding to changes or concerns.
• Administering medications and treatments accurately and safely.
• Responding to overnight health calls and providing clinical guidance to staff.
• Assessing situations and determining when additional medical attention is needed.
• Responding calmly and professionally to emergencies.
• Supporting residents with daily living needs, including hygiene, mobility, and nutrition.
• Assisting with specialized needs such as G-tubes, feeding needs, and suprapubic care.
• Obtaining overnight vital signs when needed.
• Administering PRN medications and addressing health-related concerns.
• Maintaining accurate eMAR and health record documentation.
• Helping ensure medications, supplies, and equipment are organized and available.
• Advocating for residents’ rights, preferences, dignity, and independence.
• Working collaboratively with staff and healthcare providers to ensure continuity of care.
• Helping maintain a safe, clean, and supportive environment throughout the night.

Required:

• Completion of a state-approved practical nursing program.
• Unencumbered Iowa Registered Nurse(RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license.
• Valid driver’s license and Chauffeur’s License (D3).
• Satisfactory driving record and ability to be insured under New Hope’s auto insurance.
• Successful completion of New Hope’s Safety-Care Training.

The ability to safely assist with lifting/transferring dependent individuals, pushing wheelchairs and medication carts is also required.
