Job summary

Morrison Child and Family Services in Portland, OR hiring a Milieu Counselor for overnight shifts at Mt. Scott.

This non-exempt hourly role provides supervision and guidance to youth in an intensive treatment milieu, supporting daily living skills within a trauma-informed program. Responsibilities include modeling appropriate interactions, using structured routines, coordinating with a multidisciplinary team, and participating in required trainings and compliance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1-year experience working with youth. Or a combination of education and experience related to working with youth.
• Basic computer skills using word processing, spreadsheets, databases and email.

Responsibilities

• Provides supervision and support for youth in a milieu setting.
• Employs interventions that are consistent with best practices, the therapeutic models delivered by the program, ethical principles, and professional standards, regulations, policies, and procedures, and laws.
• Models appropriate interpersonal interactions in the milieu space.
• Uses structure, routines, and activities to promote effective relationships.
• Assists clients in identifying and developingtheirstrengths through activities and other experiences.
• Demonstrates the ability to recognize professional limitations and seeks supervision when appropriate.
• Shares decision making whenever possible. Uses a collaborative approach to problem solving.
• Is present and punctual for scheduled shifts and/or meetings.
• Works well within a team environment, sharing workload, responsibilities, credit, and opportunities.
• Is aware of Morrison Compliance Program including Compliance Officer, Compliance Standards of Conduct, and Employee Compliance Hotline. Understands Compliance Standards of Conduct and signs attestation document. Completes all assigned compliance, HIPAA, client privacy, and fraud, waste, and abuse training. Knows how to report any client privacy or fraud, waste, or abuse concerns.
• Demonstrate a commitment to developing a thorough knowledge and application of the Sanctuary model and other organizational policies & practices.
• Participate in staff development, in-services, and training related to workplace effectiveness; model professional behaviors and implement improvements to business practices with awareness of their impact in a trauma-informed behavioral healthcare organization.
