Job summary

KA Recruiting Inc. is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) to join a small acute care hospital in Northern Maine. The MLT will perform a variety of laboratory tests to support diagnosis, treatment, and patient care.

The 36-hour lab tech role runs 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., with weekends and holidays as needed. Requires an associate degree and current MLT certification or eligibility; prior clinical lab experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology is required.
• Current MLT (ASCP or equivalent) certification or eligibility is required.
• Previous clinical lab experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collect, process, and analyze biological specimens (blood, urine, tissue, etc.)
• Perform routine and specialized laboratory tests in hematology, chemistry, microbiology, and immunology
• Operate and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment
• Ensure test results are accurate, timely, and communicated to healthcare providers
• Adhere to hospital, laboratory, and regulatory protocols including CLIA, OSHA, and HIPAA standards
• Participate in quality control, proficiency testing, and continuous improvement initiatives
