Job summary

Simple Laboratories in Chicago is seeking a Full-Time Medical Laboratory Scientist or MTs who are ASCP/AMT licensed to perform tests of moderate to high complexity at our Humboldt Park location. The MLS/MLT will demonstrate competency across assays/instruments, troubleshoot, and participate in validations and staff development.

Responsibilities include maintaining quality data, ensuring instrument uptime, and training staff while following CLIA, HIPAA, and OSHA guidelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Clinical Laboratory Sciences, or Medical Technology required.
• MLS/MT (ASCP) or AMT accreditation required per CLIA high complexity testing.
• Minimum 3 years in a high complexity laboratory.
• Leadership abilities to mentor and support colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Determine specimen acceptability for testing according to criteria.
• Perform routine and complex laboratory procedures per SOPs with QC.
• Make technical testing decisions and resolve issues.
• Maintain knowledge to analyze test results and address abnormal findings.
• Perform and document QC to ensure data accuracy and instrument functionality.
• Maintain instrument maintenance and participate in troubleshooting.
• Assist supervisor in staffing and high-quality test results.
• Navigate workflows via LIS.
• Assist with validation of new reagents/instrumentation.
• Assist in developing SOPs and training modules.
• Serve as SME for testing and respond to questions.
• Communicate critical results per HIPAA guidelines.
• Act as department lead in supervisor’s absence.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment and model behavior.
• Adhere to CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA; support regulatory inspections.
• All other duties as assigned.
