Job summary

US 1 Shorthaul in Baytown, TX is hiring a CDL Local Yard Jockey (Switcher) for an overnight shift. This part-time, hourly role moves trailers, performs drop and hook, and conducts yard audits.

You will operate in a safety-conscious environment and work with yard goats and the Yard Management System (YMS). The job requires at least 12 months of yard or trailer spotting experience, Class A CDL preferred, and the ability to read safety rules in English.

Qualifications

• Experience backing 48' to 53' trailers.
• Minimum 12 months of over-the-road or trailer spotting experience in the last 3 years.
• Must pass pre-hire background and drug test.
• CDL Class A preferred with relevant experience in past 5 years.

Responsibilities

• Move trailers in and out of dock with yard goats.
• Perform drop and hook duties.
• Accurately conduct yard audits at end of shift.
• Complete pre- and post-trip inspections and report truck conditions.
• Adhere to safety-sensitive guidelines for yard operations.
• Other duties as assigned by management.
