BluePearl Pet Hospital in Brooklyn, NY is seeking an experienced Licensed Veterinary Technician for our Overnight Emergency team. You will induce, monitor, and recover anesthesia, triage emergencies, and perform radiography with proper technique while maintaining critical care standards.

The role offers a pay range of $30.00–$51.00 per hour plus competitive shift differentials for nights and weekends. Sign-on bonus up to $20,000 is available based on experience.

Qualifications

• Licensed Veterinary Technician with experience in emergency settings.
• Ability to induce, monitor and recover anesthesia.
• Proficiency in triage and vitals assessment in emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases, obtain vitals (temperature, heart rate, resp rate, blood pressure).
• Perform digital radiography with proper technique and patient positioning.
• Interpret vital signs and alert veterinarians to changes.
• Calculate medical math and administer medications appropriately.
• Place IV catheters and perform phlebotomy.
• Maintain feeding tubes and central lines as needed.
• Mentor and train co-workers; address client concerns.

Job description

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Brooklyn, NY is hiring an experienced Licensed Veterinary Technician to work in our thriving Overnight Emergency team.

Up to $20,000 sign-on bonus based on experience.

Pay: $30.00 - $51.00 / hour + competitive hourly shift differentials

We also offer competitive shift differential pay for eligible hours worked during nights and weekends. Shift differentials are based on a 4‑hour minimum. For example:

• Mon – Fri: 6pm to 8am = +$4.50/hr. Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = +$4.50/hr. Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = +$8.00/hr. Shift Differential

As an Emergency Veterinary Technician, you will:

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital, including obtaining vitals such as temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography using proper technique, including proper positioning of patients.
• Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs, and alert the veterinarian to changes and issues.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Properly calculate medical math (including constant‑rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Be proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Have a passion for mentoring and training other co‑workers.
• Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.
