Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Brooklyn, NY is seeking an experienced Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our Overnight Emergency team.

This position offers up to a $20,000 sign-on bonus based on experience. Pay ranges from $27.00 to $51.00 per hour plus competitive hourly shift differentials. Candidates with VTS credentialing are eligible for compensation commensurate with experience.

Qualifications

• Licensed Veterinary Technician with overnight ER experience.
• Competency in anesthesia monitoring and induction.
• Ability to triage emergencies and obtain vitals.
• Proficiency in phlebotomy and IV catheter placement.

Responsibilities

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia.
• Triage emergency cases and obtain vitals.
• Perform digital radiography with proper technique.
• Interpret vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes.
• Manage CPR during arrests and administer medications as needed.
• Mentor and train co-workers.

Job description

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Brooklyn, NY is hiring an experienced Licensed Veterinary Technician to work in our thriving Overnight Emergency team.

This position is offering up to a $20,000 sign‑on bonus based on experience.

Pay

$27.00 - $51.00 / hour + competitive hourly shift differentials. This pay band is dependent on experience and advancement through our competency assessment tool. Candidates with VTS credentialing are eligible for compensation commensurate with experience.

We also offer competitive shift differential pay for eligible hours worked for nights and weekends. Shift differentials are based on a 4‑hour minimum:

• Mon – Fri: 6 pm to 8 am = +$4.50/hr shift differential
• Sat & Sun: 8 am to 6 pm = +$4.50/hr shift differential
• Sat & Sun: 6 pm to 8 am = +$8.00/hr shift differential

Responsibilities

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital, including obtaining vitals such as temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate, and blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography using proper technique and positioning of patients.
• Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert the Veterinarian to changes and issues.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Properly calculate medical math, including constant‑rate infusions, and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Mentor and train other co‑workers.
• Show patience and empathy to address client concerns.
