Job summary

Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls is seeking a dedicated Environmental Services Associate to maintain a clean and safe patient-care environment. This role covers patient rooms, hallways, lounges, and offices, with duties including dusting, cleaning, stocking supplies, and trash removal.

You’ll work nights, coordinating with staff to ensure a smooth, respectful environment for patients and visitors. Applicants should have a High School diploma or GED and be able to communicate effectively

Qualifications

• Must be able to read and follow cleaning procedures and safety guidelines.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work with diverse staff.
• Ability to maintain visual acuity and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Maintains a clean, neat environment in patient rooms, offices, hallways, and common areas.
• Performs dusting, washing, mopping, vacuuming, and trash disposal as assigned.
• Keeps cleaning carts stocked with necessary supplies.
• Maintains good customer relations with staff and other departments.
• Manages workload and collaborates with team members to ensure efficiency.

A Brief Overview

Responsible for maintaining a clean work environment in assigned areas which may include, but not be limited to: patient rooms, terminals, offices, nurse's stations, lounges, hallways, bathrooms, kitchen areas, elevators, and lobby areas. Serves as a Resource to staff members when leadership is not available.

What you will do

• Maintains a clean/neat environment in working area. These areas may include, but not be limited to: patient rooms, terminals, offices, nurse's stations, lounges, hallways, bathrooms, kitchen areas, elevators, and lobby areas.
• Participates in all cleaning activities as assigned. These may include, but not be limited to dusting, washing, drying, mopping, vacuuming, moving furniture, and emptying trash.
• Keeps assigned area fully stocked with supplies such as paper towels, toilet paper, etc.
• Responsible for maintaining stock on individual cleaning carts including wet and dry supplies.
• Maintain good customer relations at all times by demonstrating a good rapport and cooperative working relationship with employees, all departments, coworkers and other pertinent staff.
• Responsible for managing workload and delegating tasks as needed to other staff members.
• Maintain competency and serve as a Resource to staff members as needed.

Preferred Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience
