Job summary

Julius Silvert, a full-line specialty food distributor in Philadelphia, is seeking an Inventory Control Clerk to maintain accurate warehouse inventory and support operations.

You will perform regular cycle counts, investigate discrepancies, ensure proper scanning and recording in the WMS, and collaborate with warehouse, purchasing, and QA teams to uphold food safety standards.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; associate degree preferred.
  • 1–3 years inventory control or warehouse experience.
  • Experience with WMS/ERP systems and basic forklift operations.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly cycle counts to verify inventory accuracy.
  • Investigate and reconcile inventory variances by reviewing transaction histories and movements.
  • Ensure all incoming/outgoing products are scanned, labeled, and recorded in the WMS.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation for all inventory activities.
  • Assist with inventory adjustments, recalls, and stock rotations.
  • Collaborate with warehouse, purchasing, and QA teams to resolve discrepancies.
  • Monitor shelf life, expiration dates, and damaged goods.
  • Follow food safety and inventory handling procedures.
  • Support annual physical inventories and audit processes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Position Summary:

The Inventory Control Clerk is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory levels within the warehouse and ensuring that all products are properly accounted for. This position plays a key role in supporting warehouse operations by performing regular cycle counts, investigating inventory discrepancies, and maintaining detailed records to ensure product integrity and compliance with food safety standards.

  • Collaborate with warehouse, purchasing, and quality assurance teams to resolve discrepancies and improve accuracy.

  • Support annual physical inventories and audit processes.

Qualifications:


  • High school diploma or GED required; associate degree in business, logistics, or a related field preferred.

  • 1–3 years of experience in inventory control or warehouse operations, preferably within a food distribution or manufacturing environment.

  • Experience operating electric pallet jack and forklift preferred

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and warehouse management systems (WMS or ERP).

  • Basic understanding of FIFO (First-In, First-Out) and FEFO (First-Expired, First-Out) inventory practices.

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional departments.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in refrigerated and frozen environments as needed.
