Job summary

Veterinary Emergency + Referral Center in Honolulu seeks an experienced Veterinary Technician for overnight Emergency & Critical Care. Work three 12-hour shifts (7:00 PM–7:00 AM), Thursday–Saturday or Sunday–Tuesday. Join a team providing urgent assessment, stabilization, and advanced nursing care for hospitalized patients.

You will collaborate with emergency veterinarians and a skilled team, building anesthesia and monitoring skills while delivering exceptional patient care day by day.

Qualifications

• Previous veterinary hospital experience with strong hands-on technical skills.
• Experience with veterinary anesthesia and anesthetic monitoring.
• Strong patient assessment and nursing skills.
• Experience with venipuncture, IV catheter placement, medication administration, and hospitalized patient care.
• Ability to recognize changes in patient condition and communicate concerns quickly.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on nursing care and monitoring for emergency, critically ill, and hospitalized patients.
• Assist with triage, patient assessment, stabilization, and emergency procedures.
• Perform venipuncture, IV catheter placement, sample collection, and in-house diagnostics.
• Administer medications, IV fluids, CRIs, and prescribed treatments under veterinarian supervision.
• Prepare patients for sedation and anesthesia and provide anesthetic monitoring and recovery support.
• Assist with common and advanced Emergency & Critical Care nursing procedures.
• Closely monitor hospitalized patients and promptly communicate changes in patient condition.
• Maintain accurate treatment sheets and patient medical records.
• Participate in patient rounds and communicate important information across shifts.
• Collaborate with Emergency, Critical Care, and Specialty teams to provide exceptional patient care.
