Job summary

VERC Hawaii in Honolulu is seeking an experienced ER/ICU Veterinary Technician to join the ER/ICU team, providing hands-on nursing care for emergency, hospitalized, and critically ill patients. This full-time role offers four 10-hour shifts and a competitive pay range.

You will triage and stabilize patients, perform venipuncture, assist with anesthesia, radiographs, and complex treatments, and collaborate with veterinarians and staff to deliver compassionate care.

Qualifications

• Two years of Veterinary Assistant or Veterinary Technician experience.
• Emergency, Critical Care, ICU or high‑volume experience preferred.
• Strong nursing and monitoring skills for ER/ICU patients.
• Experience with patient monitoring, lab work, radiographs, and anesthesia equipment.
• Excellent communication and time management.

Responsibilities

• Triage emergency patients and assist with assessment and stabilization.
• Provide hands-on nursing care for ER, ICU, and hospitalized patients.
• Perform venipuncture, catheter placement, and assist with medications.
• Collect and process blood, urine, samples for diagnostics.
• Assist with radiographs and advanced imaging.
• Prepare, monitor, and recover patients under sedation and anesthesia.
• Operate monitoring, laboratory, radiographic, and anesthetic equipment.
• Calculate medication dosages and fluid rates.
• Communicate with veterinarians, staff, and clients.
• Provide compassionate client service during emergencies.
