Job summary

PetVet Care Centers' Cascade Veterinary Referral Center in Tigard, OR is seeking an Emergency Veterinary Assistant for the overnight shift. You will support veterinarians and technicians by cleaning and maintaining equipment, restraining and handling patients, preparing surgery suites, and performing clerical tasks.

We offer 3 overnight shifts per week (12 hours each, 6:30 PM - 7:00 AM) with at least one weekend shift.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1 year of Veterinary Assistant Experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate care to all patients.
• Greet patients and owners, weigh and take vital signs on arrival.
• Triage patients, perform exams, treatments, and administer medications as directed by licensed staff.
• Calm and soothe anxious patients.
• Assist doctors and technicians with medications and restraints.
• Perform laboratory tests and take radiographs.
• Operate and maintain hospital equipment.
• Fill prescriptions, calculate and administer medications, document and secure controlled drugs.
• Feed, monitor appetite, and report any unusual conditions.
• Communicate with clients clearly and educate on insurance, wellness, and plans.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety of hospital and equipment.
• Bath and groom overnight patients and prepare animals for release.
• Maintain accurate medical records and adhere to safety protocols.
• Show up for full-time overnight shifts and support hospital operations.
• Promote hospital products and services and respond to directions from DVM/LVT.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent
