PetVet Care Centers’ Barton Heights Veterinary Hospital is seeking an Emergency Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians in daily tasks, including cleaning, feeding, restraining, and clerical work. The role emphasizes compassionate patient care, client communication, and adherence to safety protocols.

Established in 1974 and AAHA-accredited, the hospital operates 24/7 in Stroudsburg, offering a range of services and a culture of care.

Qualifications

• Must be able to be the only tech on - able to care for ICU patients, and be the surgery tech if needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate care to all patients
• Greet patients and owners, take weights and vital signs
• Triage patients, perform exams, treatments, and administer meds as directed
• Calm anxious patients
• Assist doctors and technicians with medications and restraints
• Perform laboratory tests and take radiographs
• Maintain and operate hospital equipment
• Document medications and controlled drugs
• Feed and monitor patients and report abnormalities
• Communicate with clients and educate about insurance and wellness
• Maintain hospital cleanliness and safety
• Groom and bathe patients staying overnight
• Maintain medical records and comply with directions
• Attend shifts as scheduled; overtime or additional shifts as needed
• Promote hospital products and services
• Respond to directions from DVM/LVTs
• May take on duties in specialty areas (dentistry, surgery, radiology, etc.)
