Job summary

Barton Heights Veterinary Hospital, part of PetVet Care Centers, seeks an Emergency Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians in a fast-paced, 24/7 setting. The role involves cleaning and maintaining equipment, assisting with exams, restraint, and patient care, with opportunities across emergency, general practice, and exotics.

Qualifications

• Applicants must be 18 years of age or older to be considered for this position.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Must be able to be the only tech on - able to care for ICU patients, and be the surgery tech if needed.
• Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate care to all patients.
• Greet patients and owners, guide to exam room, record weight and vital signs.
• Triage patients, perform physical exams, treatments, and administer meds as directed by LVTs.
• Calm and soothe anxious patients.
• Assist doctors and technicians with medications or patient restraint.
• Perform laboratory tests and take radiographs.
• Maintain hospital equipment and ensure proper documentation.
