Job summary

The University of Maryland Medical System Corporation seeks an experienced clinical pharmacist to provide overnight, direct patient care in the adult emergency department. You will collaborate with the care team to optimize pharmacotherapy and contribute to research and outcomes programs.

You will mentor residents, educate students, and participate in drug-use and outcomes research, sharing findings at local, regional or national meetings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Pharmacy from an ACPE-accredited college or university is required.
• Master of Science, PhD or Doctor of Pharmacy from ACPE-accredited institution is preferred.
• A minimum of 5 years of clinical pharmacy experience is required if only a Bachelor's degree.
• Licensure by the Maryland State Board of Pharmacy is required.
• Completion of a Pharmacy Practice Residency or minimum of 3 years of clinical experience is required.
• Completion of an Emergency Medicine Specialty Residency is required.

Responsibilities

• Participates in direct patient care with the emergency services team.
• Assists with drug therapy decisions including dosing and monitoring.
• Develops patient care plans with the medical team.
• Recommends therapy or alternatives based on literature and clinical experience.
• Interprets laboratory data to monitor therapy and adjust regimens.
• Applies pharmacokinetic principles to achieve safe and effective therapy.
• Interprets and resolves drug-related problems and interactions.
• Mentors pharmacy residents and students and supports training.
