Job summary

Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota in Red Wing, MN seeks a Direct Support Professional for an on-site overnight role. You will provide guidance, support, safety, and advocacy for individuals receiving services, helping with daily living skills and community engagement, and transporting clients to appointments and events.

The position requires a background check, experience with individuals with disabilities, basic computer and math skills, and CPR/First Aid certification; training for

Qualifications

• Successfully meet the requirements of a background check.
• Experience and/or training of at least one year with individuals with disabilities is desired.
• Computer skills that support Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota (LSS) technology and basic math skills.
• Able to read, write, and solve problems.
• Able to recognize boundaries and exhibit patience, self-control, and flexibility.
• Ability to suggest and implement strategies to enhance the service.
• Successful completion of medication administration training (may be obtained after hire).
• CPR/First Aid certification (may be obtained after hire).
• Mental Health certification is desired (may be obtained after hire).

Responsibilities

• Provide guidance, encouragement, support, comfort, security, and safety through relationships and direct interaction with individuals receiving services.
• Advocate for individuals in all aspects of life, including medical and community engagement.
• Address emergencies and support essential living skills.
• Provide transportation to appointments and events as needed.
• Maintain documentation, perform record keeping, and participate in meetings/trainings as required.
• Overnight duties with approximate five hours of sleep per night.
