Job summary

Garfield Park Behavioral Hospital in Chicago seeks an Emergency Services Intake Counselor to conduct crisis risk assessments and provide clinical triage for families and professionals. You will also manage the fast-paced admissions process, ensuring compliance with mental health laws and confidentiality policies.

The role requires strong multitasking in a high-stress environment, with overnight shifts Sunday through Thursday, 11:00pm–7:30am.

Qualifications

• Masters degree in social work, counseling, psychology or related field.
• Licensure or eligibility for licensure (LPC, LSW, LCPC, LCSW) or RN preferred.
• BLS (AHA) and CPI certifications required on orientation.

Responsibilities

• Conduct risk evaluations and gather health and treatment histories.
• Coordinate intake paperwork, pre-certifications and physician care.
• Manage bed availability, deflections, and multidisciplinary updates.
• Maintain records and uphold confidentiality and legal standards.
